Mori

2010 – 2025

My sweet and wonderful Mori got her name from the Japanese word Mori (森) which means jungle. Just how my friend viewed the world. She lived for over 15 years. Fifteen years in a state of fear and complete distrust towards everyone. Throughout her life, she managed on her own and that made her so strong. She would not approach any of the other cats except for her wonderful brother. And in a strange and highly respectful way, none of the cats bothered her. For thirteen years that I knew her, she followed me always from a distance, and expressed her love in her own silent way. For thirteen years she never let me pet her. Until her illness no longer allowed her to move either quickly nor comfortably. And so she decided after her entire life to surrender. For almost two months, she allowed me to pet her, only on the head, and she would push my hand with her head to thank me. For two months before she died, she enjoyed the caresses she had never enjoyed in her entire life. Her illness took a toll on her. But she fought so bravely that she showed me that no matter how big our fear is, the strength of our soul is greater. You are free now, my sweet girl. Thank you for everything.
